Sha’ar HaBitachon - Episode Eighty-Two , ~ ! We've already established that even a person who lives with perfect Bitachon, blissful reliance on Hashem, is required to take all reasonable precautions to safeguard and preserve life and do everything possible to avoid death. Moving onto the rest bodily welfare including physical health and emotional wellness, and other essentials like clothing, shelter, and our livelihoods. The question is, do we say same of the efforts to be invested in obtaining these basics as well, or is it sufficient here to minimally engage, "going through the motions," and yet ultimately leaving the successful outcome in G-d's hands? Rabbeinu Bachaya now incisively addresses this next area of Human Endeavour with an overarching Partnership Paradigm, teaching us all to learn how to live from the farmers! Having clearly and conclusively proved that Trust in Hashem doesn’t absolve us from doing our part to preserve life. The author now goes on to illustrate how the very same must apply to the mandated pursuit of our basic needs. Employing business language, the Sha'ar HaBitachon now delineates the terms of engagement: fulfill our obligations dutifully, as would any other honest, loyal partner!
